Welcome to the Castle of Doom, mortal. I am Macula - Guardian of the Void, periodic haunter of this website, and now, apparently, your tour guide. Be forewarned that the Castle of Doom is a macabre and perilous lair deep within the most cursed regions of the World Wide Web. Proceed with utmost care.
It's dangerous to go alone, take this with you:
Fun fact: The official description for the BFG 9000 in the game manual mentions that the weapon is "great for clearing the room of those unwelcome 'guests'". Yet in the original game, the only episode you are able to obtain and use the weapon is Inferno - which takes place entirely in Hell, which is the home world of the demons!
Have you ever noticed how in addition to the "Baron warning" green marble texture, Doom also had the two textures above, that clearly appear to be for the Arch-vile and the Icon of Sin, despite those not appearing until Doom 2? Are the similiarties mere coincidence, or were some of Doom 2's new additions just (based on) the original Doom's rejects? The world may never know...
YOU ARE NOW ENTERING THE SLOUGH OF DESPAIR WEB PARK, PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE PINKY DEMONS
GOTTA GO FAST
If you want to see some truly extreme speed, check out Zero Master's Doom feats here. That guy runs so fast that he even goes through walls sometimes!!
Hey! Remember to play Doom the way it was intended to be played by either using a CRT monitor, or CRT filters if you lack a real CRT monitor! Check out this neat comparison between how Doom looks on a modern monitor, and how it looks with CRT filters.
That goes for any game from the early to mid 90s golden era or earlier! All of the graphics were drawn on and intended to be observed on CRT monitors, and won't look right on their scrawny LCD/LED successors! If you don't have a CRT monitor, you can always use the groovy CRT filters in the SVN-Daum build of DOSBox!
YOU MADE IT!!! Continue to the next level of Koshka's Kingdom by flipping the switch!
